Young archers from the archery classes with Sierra Vista Leisure &
Library Services were selected and sponsored to shoot the World Archery
Tournament in Las Vegas on Feb. 5 & 6 2015. They are Gabriel Lewis 12 years
old from Sierra Vista, Jack Roser 12 years old from Sierra Vista and Diego
Ramirez 12 years old from Cananea Mexico. Gabriel, and Jack received
sponsorship money to attend while Diego was funded by his parents.
This event had 2575 archers attending from all 50 states and more than 30
countries, to include Pro, Olympic and amateur. These archery students shot in
their first major tournament and did very well. They shot one 300 game on
Friday and one on Saturday with the following results, Gabriel shot a 224 and
230 with a total of 454 and placed 38 out of 50, Jack shot a 205 and 207 with
a total of 412 and placed 76 out of 80, Diego shot 183 and 187 with a total of
370 and placed 47 out of 50.
The young archers were very excited and enjoyed this experience. The parents
and family are very proud of their performance. The archers, family and their
