Info on a great hunting program from one of our members:
“While hunting on the Kaibab this year I ran into a fellow who assists with “Whitetails for Warriors” at the Buckhaven Learning Center in Ohio. This program is geared towards combat wounded/disabled veterans. The hunt is held in October of each year. Eligibility for this hunt is as follows: you must be a Combat Wounded/Disabled Veteran, which incurred as a service-connected injury or illness to be eligible for this hunt. Twelve Veterans will be drawn by BUCKHAVEN’s Hunt Coordinator each year. If you have applied and are not selected that year, your application goes back into the selection process for the following year. Applications will be accepted until July 31 each year, for that year’s hunt.
The hunt includes four nights lodging, all meals, snacks, and beverages, the in or out-of-state Ohio hunting license, with an either sex deer tag; and lots of gear for the twelve hunters (last year they gave out crossbows, camouflage clothing, and other gear to each participant). It also includes everything listed above, except for the hunting license/tag, for the veteran’s spouse or guest. **The applicant is responsible for travel to & from BUCKHAVEN in Mt. Gilead, Ohio**
